A Lone goal by Aryaan Majumdar helped Campion School (Cooperage) clinch a 1-0 victory against St Andrew's (Bandra) in the semi-final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association-organised Ahmed Sailor boys under-16 football tournament at Cooperage football ground yesterday.
Under hot and humid conditions, the Campion outfit attacked from the beginning. St Andrew's missed out on a few opportunities to score.
Within the first few minutes, Zeeyan Nevrekar's free-kick from the opposition right corner was blocked by a sturdy Campion wall.

The Cooperage side too had their fair share of missed chances. Winger Pranav Bongirwar missed pelting one into the net from right outside the goal.
The deadlock was broken by Campion in injury time of the first half. Striker Aryaan, who received the ball after a vital assist from Amartya Patel, dribbled from the half-line till the opposition goal mouth area from where he launched it into the net. At half-time, Campion were leading 1-0.
Switching sides, St Andrew's tried to find the equaliser, but were unable to score. Midfielder Nester Mascarenhas' shot from right outside the 18-yard box went wide while Zeeyan narrowly missed to score from inside the penalty area.
Campion held their nerve and were strong in defence, while Andrews crumbled under pressure.
Earlier in the day, Don Bosco (Matunga) defeated St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli) 1-0. Rohan Fernando scored for Don Bosco. The Matunga side controlled the ball well and dominated the opposition. Boscos could have netted more goals, but were unlucky yesterday.
Winger Mannan Dang attempted a shot running in from the wings, but the ball landed straight into the hands of opposition goalkeeper Kevin Vaz. Skipper of the Borivli team Harsh Dekhle missed scoring for his side as the ball was neatly received by goalkeeper Atharva Shelke.
In the injury time of the first half, Rohan made no mistake to score when he launched his shot from the right wing into the left corner of the goal.
Kids rue bad timing of MSSA matches
Kids from Don Bosco (Matunga), St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli), Campion School (Cooperage) and St Andrew's (Bandra) had a tough day under the sweltering heat while playing the semi-finals of the Ahmed Sailor U-16 tournament at Cooperage football ground yesterday. The matches began at 11.45 am. At noon, the astro turf was burning hot and caused a lot of discomfort to the players.
Aryaan Majumdar from Campion School said: "It was very tough to play at Cooperage today. Our main aim was to conserve energy. The ground was very hot and our feet too were in pain with every step we took. During the intervals, we tried to recuperate by resting and pouring water on our heads."
Don Bosco's Rohan Fernando added: "It was difficult to sustain ourselves while running due to the heat. We felt our energy levels dipping but we still played and helped each other cope through the game."
